Heyward Gibbes Middle School has been awarded a $2,497 grant from the South Carolina Arts Commission, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
The grant funding will help Heyward Gibbes’ band
program purchase tuners and tuner holders for students.
“This grant is a gamechanger for our program. By equipping every student with the tools to hear themselves and each other more accurately, we are raising the standard of musicianship at
Heyward Gibbes. The impact will be felt not only in stronger performances and student confidence this year but also in building lasting skills that our students will carry into high school and beyond,” said Heyward Gibbes band director Chante’ Sims.
