Caring for Aging Beauties (C.A.B.), a South Carolina 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring companionship and social engagement for older adults (our aging beauties), will host the 11th Annual Senior Service Day & Caregiver Recognition Event on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Word of God Church & Ministries International Banquet Hall, located at 119 Diamond Lane, Columbia, SC 29223.
Observed annually through an official proclamation issued by Governor Henry McMaster, Senior Service Day has become a meaningful statewide observance dedicated to recognizing the value, wisdom, and lifelong contributions of older adults while celebrating the family members, friends, and professional caregivers whose compassion and commitment enrich the lives of those they serve.
Founded by healthcare leader and aging advocate Kesha L. Hayes, Caring for Aging Beauties was established in response to a growing need for meaningful companionship and social engagement among older adults. Recognizing the harmful effects of loneliness and social isolation, the organization works to inspire and organize volunteers who provide ongoing companionship while creating opportunities for older adults to remain socially connected, engaged, and valued within their communities.
The organization’s vision is that Aging Beauties throughout South Carolina will live socially engaged lives that reduce the negative effects of loneliness, isolation, and depression. Through volunteerism, intergenerational programming, and community partnerships, Caring for Aging Beauties continues to build meaningful relationships that enhance emotional well-being, encourage lifelong learning, and celebrate the lives and experiences of older adults.
Now in its eleventh year, Senior Service Day has become one of the organization’s signature initiatives, bringing together community leaders, nonprofit organizations, faith-based organizations, businesses, volunteers, caregivers, and families to honor those who have helped shape our communities. More than a celebration, the event serves as a reminder that older adults deserve to be seen, appreciated, connected, and celebrated every day.

Hayes, whose personal motto is “Building Futures, Connecting Generations,™” is a transformational leader in healthcare, professional growth strategist, health and wellness consultant, nurse, author, and nationally recognized advocate for older adults. She created Senior Service Day: Honoring Our Elderly Population to inspire communities across South Carolina to intentionally celebrate aging while strengthening connections between generations.
The free community event welcomes older adults (our aging beauties), caregivers, families, volunteers, community organizations, and supporters from across South Carolina for a day of celebration, fellowship, community engagement, and recognition of the invaluable contributions made by Aging Beauties and caregivers throughout our state.
