Good Hope C.M.E. Church will observe Military Heritage Sunday, February 18, 2024 as part of our Black History Month Celebration. We will celebrate the service of Good Hope Members in American conflicts from the Civil War to the Iraq War.
The William Summers American Legion Post 217 will worship with Good Hope. The Post is named after a member of Good Hope C.M.E. Church who died in World War II. The service begins at 10:00 A.M. Good Hope C.M.E. Church is located 1032 St. Paul’s Church Rd, Gilbert, SC 29054.
Event to honor the contributions of Black female authors
Join the community on Sunday March 3, 2024 @ 2:00 PM to celebrate and honor the literary contributions of black female authors. Special recognition will be given to Mrs. Annie Green, the first black female to write and publish a novel in SC.
Come sign a national petition urging Congress to establish a steering committee to develop a non-watered-down curriculum designed to teach black history year-round in public school’s grades k-12. Purchase books from authors in person. The event will be held at the Drew Wellness Center 2101 Walker Solomon Way-Columbia, SC 29204.
