Forest Heights Elementary School curriculum resource teacher Dr. Torri Smith has been chosen to participate in the Strategies for Teacher Advancement and Renewal (STAR) Fall 2024 seminar, sponsored by the Foundation for Professional Development and the Palmetto State Teachers Association.
She is one of 10 educators from across South Carolina who were chosen for the fall seminar, which will be
held October 28-November 1 on Seabrook Island.
“I’m thrilled to be attending the STAR seminar this fall, as it is a unique opportunity to connect with passionate educators and gain valuable insights. The knowledge and skills I acquire will undoubtedly empower me to inspire and lead those around me more effectively in the future. I look forward to networking with well-versed veteran educators,” said Dr.
Smith.
STAR is a biannual reward and recognition program for outstanding South Carolina veteran teachers. The program is designed to enhance teachers’ commitment to education and provide them with opportunities for personal and professional growth.
More than 550 educators have participated in STAR seminars since 1994 when the program began.
