Dominion Energy offers Energy Assistance as temperatures soar

Dominion Energy is encouraging customers who may be struggling financially to reach out for energy assistance.

August is Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Action Month. A federally funded program, LIHEAP provides qualifying customers with bill payment and energy assistance options. In 2023, more than 71,000 Dominion Energy customers received $23 million in energy assistance through LIHEAP and other utility bill assistance programs.

“We understand high temperatures paired with humidity can cause our customers to set their thermostats lower, causing their air conditioning units to work harder, which can have a significant impact on their monthly energy bills,” said Sam Dozier, general manager of customer service at Dominion Energy South Carolina. “We’re reminding our customers that assistance funding is available through LIHEAP and other programs.”

Customers can review a variety of payment plans and assistance options by accessing their account online or through the Dominion Energy mobile app. To apply, Dominion Energy electric and natural gas customers must contact their local community action agency. Go to DominionEnergySC.com/assistance for a complete list of community action agencies by county.

During the month of August Dominion Energy’s customer assistance team will attend various community and back-toschool events across the state to help qualifying customers learn more about programs.
