During his previous tenure as head coach from 2011 to
2017, Gilliard led the Denmark Tech women’s basketball team to unprecedented success, including four Region 10 Conference Championships, four Region 10 Tournament titles and the program’s first NJCAA Division I National Tournament appearance. His players
consistently ranked among the nation’s best in scoring, steals and three-point percentage.
In addition to his time at Denmark Tech, Gilliard has held coaching positions at Columbia International University, Allen University and Bennett College.
“I am honored to step into this position and continue serving Denmark Tech in a new capacity,” said Gilliard. “This college and its athletic programs have played a significant role in my career and I am committed to ensuring that our athletes receive the resources, support and opportunities they need to thrive both in competition and in life.”
As athletic director, Gilliard will oversee all aspects of Denmark Tech’s athletic department, focusing on enhancing athletic performance, expanding recruitment efforts, fundraising and strengthening alumni engagement. His leadership marks an exciting new chapter for Denmark Technical College athletics.
