On Saturday, June 15, 2024, the Delta Eta Chapter® of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated® celebrated 42 years of service, honored Mrs. Sheila Brown as the 2024 Soror of the Year and awarded the Beta Scholarship. The chapter, which was chartered on June 19, 1982, continues to make a positive impact on its community through service, education, and leadership. Dr. Jean Hopkins, one of the two active charter members, was present at the event to commemorate this special occasion.
Mrs. Sheila Brown, the 2024 Soror of the Year, became a member of Delta Eta Chapter in 1986. Throughout her membership, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to serving others and has shown exceptional leadership qualities. Mrs. Brown is always willing to lend a helping hand, often going above and beyond to support her fellow members and the community. She has been actively involved in numerous service programs, played a key role in securing a grant for the chapter, and has successfully collaborated with local organizations to enhance the impact of their initiatives.
In addition to her involvement in Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated®, Mrs. Brown is also dedicated to serving nine other organizations and programs in various capacities. She serves as an Advisor Board member for the Girl
Scouts, Coordinator/Leader for the Girl Scouts, member of the Federation of Women, Personal Responsibility Grant Program participant, New Hope-Health Program supporter, Mt. Zion Church Deaconess, Youth Ministry Advisor, and an active member of the Children’s and Women’s Ministries. Mrs. Brown truly embodies the core values of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated®, showcasing character, friendship, kindness, and leadership without the need for an official title.
Deniah Arthur, a senior nursing student at the University of South Carolina – Columbia campus, was awarded the Beta Scholarship. She is a first-generation college student, working her way through school and maintaining a 3.4 GPA. Deniah is an active member of the Delta Eta Alpha Beta Chapter of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated and several other organizations.
