The B Strong Group will host a community Cycle for Sickle Cell Disease & Blood Drive event in partnership with Richland County Recreation Commission and the American Red Cross on Saturday, August 30 from 8:30 am to 3 pm at Eastover Park, 1031 Main St, Eastover, SC. The event is free to the community.
Participants of the cycle event can ride their bike, walk, or run. There will be exhibitors, vendors, sickle cell trait testing, give-a-ways, food, music, and fun that is all free to participants. In addition, sickle cell trait testing will be offered by the Sumter Office of James R. Clark Memorial Sickle Cell Foundation at this event. The Cycle for Sickle Cell Disease event is an opportunity to get the community outside and active and also an opportunity to spread awareness of sickle cell
disease. Approximately 4,500 people with sickle cell disease currently live in South Carolina. There is a critical need for sickle cell awareness. It is the mission of The B Strong Group and the purpose of its Founders.

Donors of all blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, B negative and A negative. According to the Red Cross, type O negative is the universal blood type that can be safely transfused to anyone and is often used to treat trauma patients.
