Denise NeSmith Washington, a.k.a. “The Hair Hat Lady,” is from NeSmith, SC. She currently lives in Georgetown, SC. She is the owner of Nissie’s Original Hair Hats
Washington says that her adopted parents, Mr. Elliott Q. and Mrs. Ila Rosa NeSmith taught her everything that she knows.
“I was raised up on the farm and I had to work a regular job,” Washingon recalled, “but they made sure I was educated in different programs and learned all types of skills. My real mother, Mary K. Washington, made sure that I would be taken care of.”
Today, she is the Creator/ Designer of NISSIE’S Original Hair hats, hats, mask and accessories.
“This is a hobby that I LOVE doing,” she said. “I take synthetic hair and I create all types of hair hats and accessories. I love the excitement when people see my hair hats or hat designs and they think that it’s a hat, but they don’t realize that it’s made with Hair, so I love to see that shock and smile on their face.”
Washington says that she wears multiple hats.
