Mirci, a leading advocate for mental health awareness in the community, is thrilled to announce a unique and engaging event—a family-friendly mental health-themed comedy show for all ages.
Laugh Therapy Family Comedy Show, presented by Healthy Laughter will take place on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at the iconic New Brookland Tavern located in the Five Points area of Columbia.
The show promises an evening of wholesome laughter and entertainment, designed to bring families together while addressing important mental health topics in a light-hearted and approachable manner. Featuring a lineup of talented comedians, including Comedian Akintunde, Joel Byars (Voted Atlanta’s Best Clean Comedian), and local Host and DJ, Preach Jacobs – the event aims to break the stigma surrounding mental health issues and encourage open conversations among attendees of all ages.
“Laughter is a powerful tool for healing and connection,” said Taylor Treacy, Marketing & Development Officer at Mirci. “Both Mirci and Healthy Laughter recognize this, which is why we’ve joined forces to bring this event to life. The goal of this comedy show is to foster a fun and supportive community environment where mental health topics can be discussed openly and positively. We hope to inspire families to engage in meaningful conversations and to provide them with resources for mental health support in the Columbia area.”
“WF Media’s Healthy Laughter is excited to partner with MIRCI on this important initiative,” said Eunissa Warnock of
WF Media. “As the demand for mental health services in our community continues to grow, it is crucial to raise awareness about the essential support and resources MIRCI offers. Healthy Laughter is dedicated to using familyfriendly comedy to spotlight health disparities and inspire individuals to seek the help they need to achieve wellbeing and wholeness.”
Doors will open at 6:00 PM, with the show starting at 7:00 PM. In addition to the comedy performances, attendees can look forward to interactive activities like mental health trivia, informative booths, and the chance to win exciting prizes. Beverages will be available for purchase at New Brookland Tavern’s bar throughout the evening.
