COLUMBIA

At-Large Council Member Tyler Bailey was sworn into office on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, during a 1:00 pm ceremony. Bailey replaces Councilman Howard Duvall, who resigned last year.

Bailey, a well-known community advocate and prominent Columbia attorney, initially ran for Columbia City Council in 2021. Since then, he has continued to work in the community, striving to make change and learn more about Columbia’s diverse neighborhoods and some of their various issues. In November, Bailey won the municipal race with 6,175 votes, or just under 54 % of the ballots, according to reports by the South Carolina Election Commission at scvotes.gov. His nearest opponent trailed by 2,268 votes.
