Claflin University hosted its 31st Annual Presidential Scholarship Gala on Friday evening, celebrating excellence, achievement, and the unwavering support of its dedicated donors. The elegant event was held inside the newly built university’s student center built in 2024, offering attendees a first look at one of the latest additions to the rapidly growing campus.
The gala, recognized as Claflin’s signature fundraising event, highlighted the university’s continued progress and the exceptional accomplishments of its students. Guests were introduced to scholars boasting GPAs ranging from 4.0 to an impressive 5.2—students whose academic distinction reflects the institution’s commitment to high standards and transformative education.
Throughout the evening, alumni shared their pride in Claflin’s evolution over the years, noting the university’s consistent expansion, rising reputation, and sustained excellence. Joseph Canty Alumni of 1973 said he’s very impressed with the growth of the campus.
During his remarks, President Dr. Dwaun J. Warmack revealed that Claflin received an extraordinary number of applications this year, so many that the institution had to turn away 128 a[plicants. He expressed deep gratitude to the university’s donors, whose generosity directly supports student scholarships and helps Claflin continue attracting top-tier scholars from across the nation.
Following a formal dinner, supporters were treated to a special performance by legendary R&B artist Freddie Jackson, who delivered a soulful concert that carried the celebration into the evening. His smooth vocals and timeless hits made for a memorable finale to a night centered on opportunity, excellence, and Panther pride.
