Delta Eta Chapter of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated ® is a professional nursing organization that was chartered 19 June 1982. The Chapter represents professional Registered Nurses from all backgrounds and disciplines of the nursing service. Our mission/vision is “Service for Humanity.”

Each year, South Carolina recognizes 100 registered nurses who exemplify excellence in nursing practice and commitment to the nursing profession. The Palmetto Gold Nurse Recognition and Scholarship Program sponsors a Palmetto Gold Gala to honor the recipients. This year’s Gala was held on 11 April 2026 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

As we celebrated Nurses Week 2026 with this year’s theme The Power of Nurses, the Delta Eta Chapter has two “GOLDEN GIRLS.” Soror (Dr) Sheila Belton Gaymon and Soror JoAnn Williams were recipients of the most prestigious Palmetto Gold Award for 2026.
Soror Sheila Belton Gaymon, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC serves as Vice President of the Delta Eta Chapter. Over her 35-year career, she has inspired and trained numerous health professional students providing over 1600 preceptorship hours in the past four years and teaching at several academic institutions. She operated a primary care office and is now leading a rehab unit offering medical and addiction care. She is the Health Ministry leader at her church and an active advocate for the nursing profession.
Soror JoAnn Williams, MSHS, BSN, RN, AHS serves as President of the Delta Eta Chapter. She is a highly experienced nurse and respiratory therapist, with 45+ years specializing in critical care and emergency transport of neonates and pediatric patients. As a Chief Nurse, with 25 years in the Air Force Reserve, she accumulated more than 1500 incident-free flight hours airlifting patients. She is recognized for commitment to service, advocacy, and professional development.
