C.A. Johnson High School’s boys basketball team won the 2026 Class A state championship
March 7, defeating Bethune-Bowman Middle/High School 72-64 at Colonial Life Arena.
This is the Hornets’ first state championship win since 2014 and their third in program history. “I’m proud of the team. It was a great season. I always told the boys to be elite in whatever they do, and this is what it brought us. We set a vision. We set a goal. We knew it was going to happen. I’m glad that we won the state championship,” C.A. Johnson Head Coach Robert McCray said during a celebration for the team’s state championship win March 9.
The Hornets ended their season with 24 wins and seven losses.
