The C. A. Johnson Alumni Association proudly awarded five scholarships for the 2023-2024 school year. All five scholarship recipients are outstanding academically and in the community.
Three students received the C.A. Johnson Alumni Association Scholarship for $1,000 each. They are Chardonnay Bri’Asia Jackson, Dhwani Rajiv Rupapara, and Promise Chemydia Scott.
Chardonnay plans to pursue a major in Criminal Justice at the University of South Carolina. Dhwani plans to attend Claflin University as she prepares for a career as a nurse anesthesiologist. Promise plans to attend Fayetteville State University where she will follow her dream of becoming a nurse and eventually a travel nurse.
Two students received the Omar Kandi Scholarship for $1,000 each. These recipients are Amari Nicole Pearson and Caleb Malik Pearson. This scholarship was established by the family and friends of the late Omar Kandi, who was known as Gerald Corley in the Class of ’66.
Amari plans to attend Benedict College where she will major in Health Science. Her ultimate goal is to become an RN. Caleb also plans to attend Benedict where his major will be Sports Medicine.
The Association appreciates all of the alumni, family, friends and businesses that supported their scholarship funds. Congratulations to all the recipients and best wishes for a successful college experience.
The C. A. Johnson Alumni Association is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that supports C. A. Johnson High School and its three feeder schools (W. A.
