South Carolina legislators from across the state, led by Senator Tameika Devine (at podium) and Rep. Leon Howard (holding resolution), give Brookland Baptist Church Pastor Rev. Charles B. Jackson Sr. a standing ovation as they honor him for the 20-year success of the Brookland Banquet and Confernce Center.

In 2005, the Brookland Banquet and Conference Center opened on Sunset Boulevard in West Columbia. The facility was a major part of Brookland Baptist Church Pastor Rev. On Thursday, April 24, the South Carolina Senate honored Rev. Jackson and the Brookland family for the success of the Center during a special ceremony in the Senate chambers. Senators from across the state paid tribute to Rev. Jackson and his vision.

“This year, the Brookland Banquet and Conference Center will celebrate its 20th anniversary,” said Senator Tameika Devine. “Reflecting on those two decades of excellence and impact in the community building, we could not let this go without it being noticed by this body. For over 20 years, Brookland Banquet and Conference Center has served as a hub for celebration, learning, worship and unity. It has welcomed weddings, graduations, commu-

“The economic development of the Brookland Banquet and Conference Center cannot go unnoticed,” Senator Devine continued. “They have employed hundreds of people. He (Pastor Jackson) knows that when you believe in the business and workers, anything is possible, and he has certainly been a testament to that.”

Greenville Senator Karl B. Allen said “What I admire most of all about Brookland Baptist and their visionary leader after talking to those clergy that are in the Greenville area, is that he’s a man that sets an example. He makes an impact on those individuals that are looking up to him for guidance. Pastor Jackson, we appreciate you in the great state of South Carolina for all that you do.”
