She received her PhD from Capella University and graduated from Midlands Technical College, Benedict College, USC Columbia, and Capella University. After spending several years in New York, she eventually returned home to Columbia, where her career and calling is flourished.
Dr. McClerklin-Motley is the author of Reflections and Musings from the Book of Revelation, a commentary born out of her personal practice of reading Scripture and researching each passage in depth. As she studied various biblical commentaries, she noticed that most were written by white male scholars and that there was limited representation or perspective from minority communities—especially older Black women.
Inspired by that realization, she decided to contribute her own voice and insight, embracing what she fondly calls her role as the “Grandma Moses of biblical commentary.” Her goal is simple yet profound: to help readers understand that “every ethnicity on earth is included” in the messages of Revelation.
Building on the success and impact of her first volume, Dr. McClerklin-Motley is now working on Vol. 2 Reflections and Musings From the Book of Revelation: The Age of Apocalypse. Her commentary is designed to accompany readers as they study the Book of Revelation, offering clarity, reflection, and understanding.
