Benedict College senior guard Asanti Price has been selected to participate in the third annual HBCU All-Star Game, which will take place on Sunday, April 7 in Phoenix, Arizona at the prestigious Grand Canyon University Global Credit Union Arena at 1 p.m. Pacific/4 p.m. Eastern.
The game will feature four premier HBCU NCAA Division I and II conferences in the country. The game will be comprised of the nation’s top 24 players who will make up the rosters named after two HBCU and NBA Legends, Team Rick Mahorn versus Team Ben Wallace. The game will air live on the CBS Television Network and be available to stream on Paramount+.
Price will be on Team Rick Mahorn, which will be comprised of representatives from the MEAC, SIAC and Independents. Price will be one of four representatives from the SIAC, joining 2024 SIAC Player of the Year Chris Martin from Clark Atlanta, Christian Wells from LeMoyne-Owen and Jordan Simpson from Albany State. The team will be coached by Levelle Moton, head coach at North Carolina Central and Alfred Jordan, head coach at Clark Atlanta.
They will compete against Team Ben Wallace, comprised of representatives from the CIAA and SWAC.
This season, Price was named to the SIAC All-Conference second team after averaging 14 points per game. He ranked second in the SIAC and 19th in the nation in 3-pointers per game (2.9) and was third in the SIAC in steals per game (1.53). Price will be following the path of former Tiger standout Taj Green, who was named the MVP of the 2022 HBCU All-Star Game.

There were many outstanding players very deserving of this great honor and opportunity to play at the highest level on the beautiful campus of Grand Canyon University and on the biggest stage during college basketball’s biggest weekend with our great partnership with CBS Television Network and CBS Sports for this historic and third annual HBCU All-Star game.”

Bethune-Bowman High School’s Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) Mohawk Battalion has once again set a benchmark of excellence in its recent JROTC Program of Accreditation (JPA) inspection. Conducted by esteemed representatives from the 4th Brigade, United States Army Cadet Command, and the US Army Recruiting Command, this rigorous evaluation, which happens every 3 years, is designed to ensure the highest standards of quality, in line with AdvancED Standards for Quality.
The comprehensive inspection encompassed several critical areas, including Instructor and Cadet Portfolio interviews, Unit Report evaluation, a Color Guard demonstration, In Ranks inspection, Continuous Improvement brief, and a Service-Learning brief. The Mohawk Battalion’s outstanding performance across all these areas has earned it an impressive overall score of 9 5 % .
As a result of their exceptional achievements, the Mohawk Battalion has been designated as an Honor Unit with Distinction. This prestigious recognition highlights the battalion’s commitment to excellence and its success in developing well-rounded, disciplined, and capable young leaders.
The Bethune-Bowman High School JROTC program, under the leadership of Senior Army Instructor, LTC (RET) Brian Cole, Sr., and Army Instructor, SFC (RET) Fred Styles, continues to demonstrate its dedication to the principles and values of the JROTC mission. This achievement not only reflects the hard work and dedication of the cadets and instructors but also underscores the strong support from the school and local community.
