The Iota Omicron Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., invites youth in the West Columbia, Columbia and surrounding areas to attend its annual Youth Symposium on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This year’s event will be held at Booker Washington Heights Cultural Arts Center, 2611 Grant Street in Columbia, S.C.
Open to all youth ages 12-18, the Youth Symposium traditionally highlights some of the prevalent concerns that negatively impact youth such as drugs, teen violence, abuse, low self-esteem, suicide, teen pregnancy, and human trafficking This year’s theme is Rhoyal Blueprint: Design Your Impact and will empower youth to turn their experiences into advocacy. Interactive youth-led breakout discussions on issues impacting teens today, including school pressure, mental health, bullying, and community safety

Hands-on leadership and advocacy activities that help youth turn frustrations into solutions and learn how to use their voice for change

Community resource vendors connecting youth and families with local organizations that support education, leadership development, and career pathways

A special civic engagement conversation facilitated by South Carolina State Representative Hamilton Grant, encouraging youth to understand how their voices can shape their communities

Lunch, music, and networking opportunities designed to create a fun, supportive space for youth ages 12–18
“Our goal is to give young people a space where they feel heard, valued, and empowered,” said Christian Jackson, Youth Symposium chair. “When youth can openly discuss the challenges they face and learn how to turn those concerns into action, they begin to see their voice as a powerful tool for change.”
