The American Heart Association, with support from Encompass Health Stroke Rehabilitation Hospital, is donating a self-monitoring blood pressure station to the Wiley Kennedy Family Life Center in Columbia, SC. This initiative supports community health by providing residents with free access to tools that help detect and manage high blood pressure, one of the leading risk factors for heart disease and stroke.
A ceremony commemorating the donation will take place on Friday, September 12 at 10:00 a.m. at the Wiley Kennedy Family Life Center, 1037 Eastman Street, Columbia SC 29203. Representatives from the American Heart Association, Encompass Health Stroke Rehabilitation Hospital, community leaders and local health advocates are expected to be in attendance.
Why It Matters
Nearly half of adults in South Carolina live with high blood pressure. This donation provides an important community resource aligned
with the 2025 American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology High Blood Pressure Clinical Practice Guideline, helping residents take control of their heart health.
