Allen University is excited to announce the appointment of Doris Cochran, a 1998 graduate of the university, as its new Director of Alumni Affairs. Doris brings a wealth of leadership experience, a passion for community engagement, and a deep commitment to strengthening alumni relations at her alma mater. Cochran earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Allen University in 1998, and a Master of Public Policy from Walden University in 2016.
Most recently serving as a Lead Senior Investigator III with the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation, she has honed skills in effective communication, report writing, and strategic planning-skills she will now bring to her role as Director of Alumni Affairs.
“I am truly honored to return to Allen University in this capacity,” said Doris Cochran. “My time at Allen was transformative, and I am excited to leverage my leadership experience, communication skills, and passion for service to
strengthen our alumni community. I look forward to connecting with alumni, collaborating with campus departments, and ensuring that our alumni network continues to grow and thrive.”
Cochran’s leadership experience extends beyond her professional career. She served two terms as President of the Columbia (SC) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where she helped grow the chapter by 2 5 % , making it the largest in South Carolina. Additionally, as President of Delta House Incorporated, she led successful fundraising efforts
through Midlands Give.

As Director of Alumni Affairs, Doris Cochran will focus on enhancing alumni engagement, organizing events, and developing initiatives that create lasting connections between alumni and the university. Her leadership is expected to foster a vibrant alumni network that supports Allen University’s mission and helps ensure the success of future generations of students.
