Allen University has announced the promotion of Stanley B. Cromartie to Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, recognizing his leadership, vision, and impact on Yellow Jacket Athletics since arriving at the institution in October 2025.
The elevation to the university’s senior leadership team reflects Allen University’s commitment to athletics as a vital component of the student experience and institutional advancement. Since joining Allen University, Cromartie has brought a renewed sense of energy, accountability, and strategic direction to the department, emphasizing student-athlete success, competitive excellence, and community engagement.
Allen University President Dr. Stanley Pritchett Sr. praised Cromartie’s contributions and the significance of the appointment.
“Vice President Stanley Cromartie has demonstrated exceptional leadership in a short period of time. His ability to build relationships, inspire student-athletes, and create a vision for sustainable success places him among the most respected athletics administrators in higher education. This promotion recognizes both his accomplishments and the important role athletics plays in advancing the mission of Allen University.”
Cromartie arrived at Allen University after a distinguished career as an athletics administrator and coach, including leadership positions at Polk State College and Edward Waters University. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for building championship cultures, increasing community engagement, enhancing fundraising efforts, and prioritizing academic achievement among student-athletes.
Since taking the helm of Allen Athletics, Cromartie has focused on creating a unified departmental culture centered on family, service, accountability, and excellence. His vision has helped strengthen relationships among coaches, student-athletes, alumni, and supporters while positioning Allen University for continued growth within the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC).
“I am honored and humbled by the confidence President Pritchett and the Allen University Board of Trustees have placed in me,” Cromartie said. “Allen University is a special institution with tremendous potential. I remain committed to providing our student-athletes with a first-class experience while building programs that compete for championships and represent this university with pride.”
The promotion comes during a period of momentum for Allen Athletics, including expanded visibility, enhanced community partnerships, and the recent appointment of former NFL Pro Bowler and Black College Football Hall of Fame member Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie as Athletics Ambassador.
As Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Cromartie will continue to oversee all aspects of the athletics department while serving as a key member of the university’s executive leadership team. His expanded role will further align athletics with Allen University’s strategic goals, enrollment initiatives, fundraising efforts, and institutional growth.
With this appointment, Allen University reinforces its commitment to excellence and positions Yellow Jacket Athletics for an exciting future under one of the most experienced and respected leaders in collegiate athletics.
