African Methodist Episcopal Church to commemorate 191st Anniversary

In 1833, a group of Christians assembled under the shelter of oak trees, called a brush arbor, with a well nearby to worship God. The brush arbor served as their sanctuary for some time and was the beginning of St. Phillip African Methodist Episcopal Church. Today, a modernized brick sanctuary now stands in rural Richland County.

On Sunday, June 9, 2024, St. Phillip A.M.E. Church will celebrate its 191st Church Anniversary. The Pastor, the Reverend Larry Clark, and the St.

Phillip A.M.E. Church family invite the community to attend the 191st Church Anniversary and Family and Friends Day service. The June 9th celebration will be held at 4:00p.m. at 4351 McCords Ferry Road, Eastover, SC.

Gospel Recording Artist, Pastor H.E. Dixon, will be the guest preacher for this historic, spirit-filled anniversary celebration. All are welcomed, refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the worship service.
