According to research conducted by U.S. Small Business Administration Office of Advocacy; Annual Business Survey, in 2019 there were 115,514 businesses in South Carolina owned by minorities. African-Americans were the largest group of business owners, with 79,349 Blackowned businesses in the state. Of that number, only 2,849 had employees, and 76,500 companies had no employees.
Benedict wins eight championships at HBCU Indoor Track National Meet
Benedict College track athletes won eight events and had two runners-up at the HBCU National Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center on Saturday. Benedict’s track and field champions include Jada David, Yassmine Chambers, Chase Ransom, Zach Washington, Darian Clarke, Matthew Paul, Javel Best and Terrel Alexander.
