28th Annual Black Cowboy Festival & Rodeo celebrated Black heritage

The 28th Annual Black Cowboy Festival & Rodeo opened in grand style this year in Rembert, SC.

The event kicked off on Friday night with a banquet featuring guests wearing western attire and line dancing.

On Saturday, the festivities began with the Black Cowboy National Anthem. The crowd erupted with applause as an All-American cowgirl—dressed in a striking red, white, and blue star-spangled outfit—rode proudly into the arena, setting the stage for an unforgettable celebration.

This year’s Buckin’ Broncos & Horse Show was not only action-packed but also deeply informative. Spectators were treated to an enlightening experience showcasing the skill, courage, and contributions of Black cowboys and cowgirls throughout American history.

One of the most memora-

ble highlights for many attendees was watching young riders take the reins.

“To see even children racing—it was inspiring,” one festivalgoer shared. “That was my favorite part. It shows that this culture is alive, growing, and being passed to the next

generation.”

With rodeo action, historical storytelling, and community pride, the festival once again proved that the legacy of the Black cowboy is strong, vibrant, and very much alive.
