University of South Carolina The Richland Library Friends and Foundation is excited to announce Amanda Lockett and Jennifer Jean, both of the University of South Carolina, as the recipients of the 2025 Ethel Bolden Minority Fellowship. The Ethel Bolden Minority Fellows will receive $3,500 in financial assistance
towards continuing their education. The fellowship encourages and provides support to students from underserved and underrepresented ethnic and racial groups who are working toward a graduate degree.
Lockett attends the University of South Carolina where she is pursuing a PhD in Library and Information Science. Shebelieves that libraries are essential public spaces granting communities access to knowledge and resources. Lockett is a cultural preservationist with unique experiences preserving artifacts, stories, and records within Gullah Geechee communities. Lockett will use her skills and experience to assist Richland Library customers in capturing and archiving their personal experiences and oral
