The Kemetic Institute for Health and Human Development invites the community to its Annual Health and Wellness Expo on Saturday, June 22, 2024, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at The Meeting Place, 201 Columbia Mall Boulevard.
This year’s theme is Reclaiming Our Ancestral Health. The expo offers health and nutrition information from local health and wellness providers. And in addition to seminars that discuss the importance of nutrition and improving one’s health through yoga exercises; there will also be lively discussions addressing Black mental health issues with an Africancentered understanding of optimal health. Some of the
discussion topics include: the effect of systemic racism on the mental and physical health of African Americans, and the impact of systemic racism on the education of African American children.
The featured presenter is Dr. Gloria S. Boutte, a previous University of South Carolina Distinguished Professor, Early Childhood Education. She is an expert on how systemic racism is affecting the overall health and education of African American Children.
This is a free event and registration is not required but is available on Eventbrite at 2024 Kemetic Institute Expo.
